Markku’s insight is a fundamental addition to any event that seeks to understand and foresight the future in the best possible manner. He draws upon decades of experience from various positions including UNESCO and the Club of Rome and his various capacities as a professor, business advisor, researcher and author to deliver a wide range of talks for conferences, businesses and universities. 

His knowledge spans many of the pressing issues facing the world today. He provides an in-depth analysis of how the trends of tomorrow will impact people, cities, businesses, technology and the environment supported by the weight of his extensive research in the field. Markku’s work covers numerous areas including long-term trends and their implications, new business models, issues surrounding sustainable development, strategic leadership, foresight for organisations and society, and the role that culture plays for both people and organisations.

His mission is to provide an overview of the bigger picture, in order to understand and help explain how each of these areas might develop in the future.  He is accomplished at delivering keynote speeches and lectures for conferences, high-level meetings and corporate events. While working in the private sector, he provided talks for major organisations including Allianz, Morningstar, Munich Re and Swiss Re amongst others. Markku is a regular conference speaker and has delivered talks for the FTA2018 Conference, Työelämä 2020 (Finland Working Life 2020) and numerous Futures Conferences as well as countless lectures globally in the University sector.

He is a go-to expert for media interviews, with 150 radio and television interviews behind him. In 2007, he appeared with Professor Pirjo Ståhle in a six-programme TV series called “tulevaisuuspaja” (Futures Workshop), for the Finnish national broadcasting company YLE. The programme explored future innovations that would be critical to Finland’s long-term success.
